It was supposed to be a small gathering, mostly friends and loved ones; nothing spectacular, just a simple ceremony and a supper afterwards. Of course, her mom didn’t listen. Instead, she went all out and purchased decorations. Not many, mind you, but a few Chinese lanterns, some fancy table cloths, and naturally, a cake.
Everyone gathered in the small kitchen awaiting the bride and groom. While the young couple were supposed to be standing in front of a minister, they chose otherwise, visited the local Justice of the Peace, eloped and left town.
I hear the guests enjoyed the cake!
